The Academic Reading and Writing course is the most enjoyable course that I had since I started the first year of directly entry to the HCT. The reason is that I suffer from the subject of writing expressions and reports. But in this course I was able to improve my level of writing. One of the lessons learned is the summary, write articles and also watch a video and an expression of what I saw .and do not forget also how to quote the important things of help topics in expression. In my opinion summary and articles are best course for me it will open my way in future during my work and in my life to make me as engineering in wright way not only holding certificate and I don’t know how to write report.

To write a summary, there are some steps that we must work, in the beginning you ll read the whole topic, then write the main idea of each paragraph after that organizes the main ideas and summarize the article with the words written that fir our level. Also we learnt how to use bibme.com sources to put on it and has helped us a lot on the way to extract teacher sources and preserve the rights or the writer the writing and also the name of a book , which borrow from it. When we finished writing the summary 1 and 2 . we must learn something else is writing essay initially things are tough you but with attention to explain the writing will because teacher help us forever things . and you must write 500 words and more at the end of the chorus became unable to write 800 words . it is also good stuff we writing from watching film and we learn a lot of new words that I did not know before and that will help me a lot in the future , I hope to enjoy Academic Reading and writing course.

Story of Stuff

Indirection:

The story of stuff by Annie Leonard ( Story of Stuff,2007) a video show us a presentation about stuff where it comes from and how it is consumed. which has five steps extraction, production, distraction, consumption and disposal . Truth in the factory system is very dangerous to society and to people's attention and emphasis on plants and in particular the people who work in factories. its about how thing made in the world by some people who will get benefit .

Extraction:

Extraction is the process of getting raw material from earth. And for people to extract such material from earth they need to dig deep into the ground and blow up mounts to get the raw material buried deep inside creating manmade caves and holes. All that has a significant result on our ecological system that by time can cause the extinction of many species around the world. Moreover, in this process many people died in the past and still people face death everyday they spend digging for raw materials. “ Mining, for example, accounts for only 0.4% of the global workforce, but is responsible for over 3% of fatal accidents at work—about 11,000 per year, about 30 each day ”(Story of stuff, 2007).

Production:

Production is the process of creating or turning raw material into products that can be traded in markets all around the world. Most production steps include mixture of chemicals, which can create dangerous hazards on people and the environment. For example, increasing the green house effect in the world, and water pollution that may cause in marine life extinction, waste and toxic pollution that can be very harmful if not disposed properly.  “ In the U.S, industry admits to releasing over 4 billion pounds of toxic chemicals a year, pollution which disproportionately impacts low income communities and communities of color ” (story of stuff, 2007) Departments, factories must protect workers from harmful substances that will affect the future health .

Distribution:

Moreover, distribution is the spreading of thing and in this case it is spreading of product to other places, markets and shops around the world that made the contract with another company to have their products distributed to them. Distribution is not an easy step because it is very costly if the product must be shipped to other countries and also not all countries allow any product in. Also, the products are old in a cheap price to attract the consumers but this doesn’t pay the workers that worked hard and paid with their health and time and effort which seems unfair.

Consumption:

Consumption is the process of consumers using a product. For companies to maintain profit they need to encourage consumer to consume more products to benefit the company in return. Companies spend millions every year in advertising and creating better products every year. However, the advertising process wastes a lot of money if eliminated it could improve the efficiency of factories making them improve better utilities to extract more material safely and save both man and environment.

Disposal:

Disposal is the process of getting rid of unwanted material. People build large fires to burn down unwanted material; that causes carbon dioxide to build up in our planet resulting in the loose of ozone thus creates a larger problem. Moreover, toxic or radioactive material needs to be contained and buried securely underground. If disposed incorrectly, radioactive and toxic material can seep out and affect living things around and also can pollute water resources and crops consumed by both humans and animals.

Consumption in the UAE:

The UAE is a wealthy country that imports all kinds of products and has many consumers creating a perfect market for many companies. However. They lack the knowledge of recycling causing many unwanted product to be thrown away and wasted by not re-producing them again. “The UAE's coffee consumption rate puts it above Britain, where the average person drinks slightly more than 3kg a year, but behind the US (4.17kg), Italy (5.98kg), Brazil (5.6kg) and Germany, the world's biggest coffee consumer at 6.97kg per person per year” (Tahira, 2009).

Conclusion:

People need to improve betters ways of extracting material and put our planet as the first priority. If not people could loose life and our planet could loose the ability to renew causing a mass extinction on the planet. Moreover, people need to learn how to recycle and start recycling material to cut down the numbers of green house affect and consume the material more efficiently.

Moblie computing

Moblie computing means a smartphone is “ a mobile phone built on a mobile operating system, with more advanced computing capability connectivity than a feature phone ” (manufacturer2013) . A strong competition between companies such as Blackberry compete with Apple and Samsung companies, but it is difficult to satisfy consumers and every person has a special taste in using the smartphones. The difference between mobile phones and smart phones are many things, including the operating system, camera, touch screens and use smartphones like a laptop computer and can run on networks 3G or 4G.

The first smartphone is IBM Simon was a joint venture between IBM Company and BellSouth Company. However, the challenges that they had in the invention of the first smart phone and the history has been known by his name because of the priority of establishing the first smart phone. In 1992, the design was obtained, but has been prone to consumers in 1993. It was difficult to expect that the mobile phone has a fax machine, e-mail, send and receive fax and also operate the touch screen. The pros of using smart phones is to save time, communicate with other video and audio, and you can dispense with the use of computer and communication has become much faster than before.

Since that time, telephones became one of the most efficient and easiest way to connect with other people inside the country and out. In 1999, the black berry cooperation produced the first smart phone with more intelligent functions , making secure real-time push-email communications possible on wireless devices. “ Services such as BlackBerry Messenger and the integration of all communications into a single inbox allowed users to access, create, share and act upon information instantly ” (manufacturer2013) . In 2007, Apple Inc. introduced the original iPhone, one of the first mobile phones to use a multi-touch interface. “ The iPhone was notable for its use of a large touchscreen for direct finger input as its main means of interaction, instead of a stylus, keyboard, and/or keypad as typical for smartphones at the time ”. (manufacturer2013) .

The future of smart phones has become very dangerous, but with the advent of a lot of Companies .In the power of competing smartphones in the prices rise, but has come in the case of consumer addiction to smart phones. 4 Key features to expect in future smartphones it is a Flexible Screens, In-Built Projector, Seamless Voice Control and 3D Screens & Holograms. It means the screen will be 3D, which means it will produce a sharper image resolution and graphics than what our eye can perceive. seamless voice control it mean the voice will be the best What is it now. The In-Built Projector means you can using a smartphone same a projector that are able provide a large screen to watch and play your favorite movies and games, it’s a very thrilling feature to have in the new smartphone design but it is still unlikely to happen now, it night take a couple of years as large leading companies will work on these amazing features. We have to wait and awaiting companies and inventors what will give us in the future.
